Bathroom Refresh on a Budget
Why didn’t anyone tell me it would be harder to start decorating my house once I moved in? I thought I had it all figured out. However once I moved in I had no idea where to start. It took months to get started. Here we are on one bathroom down and a few more fun projects to go.
I wanted to do something fun and unique in the downstairs half bath. At first I was looking for an eye catching wallpaper or peel and stick wallpaper for an accent wall. One day scrolling on Instagram I found this cool geometric pattern accent wall for my half bath. In that moment I knew where I wanted to start .
Next I just had to choose the color ! Selecting a color was definitely more challenging than I expected . Guys I am a newbie at this whole thing. I did not know I was so indecisive. Finally I decided on “Ruddy Rose” from Valspar for $30. I have seen it in a few model homes and I thought it would be perfect to add a splash of color into my home. It did turn out to be a bit more on the coral or pink side, but I think the brightness is just my style. If you know me there can never be enough pink.
The first step was taping up the wall using frog tape . I found mine at Lowe’s for $10. Everyone recommended the green over the typical blue tape. It did have a few spots where the paint bled. However this could have been a simple rookie mistake. After taping the wall and the ceiling I started laying on the paint. Thankfully it only took one layer. All this ceiling work is definitely a little arm workout. The color ended up looking a little bit lighter in my bathroom than I expected. After a few days of looking at it I finally decided I would keep it.
The final few steps were adding a cute hanging shelf found at target for $25. I also found a cute faux plant for $5 and a little wooden bird from TJ Maxx for $10. There are no windows in here so I thought a few fake elements of nature would be nice fit in here. My grand total was for the bathroom refresh was $80.
I really love the way this little bathroom turned out and I can’t wait for my guests to check it out. Initially I was so nervous to paint or do anything. This is my first time having my OWN place where I can do whatever I want. I had to teach myself that nothing has to stay forever. I can keep things the same or change them as often as I want. Changing that renter’s mindset has been the hardest part. I know there are a few mistakes, but I know I will get better as I go. I have a few more projects in mind and I can’t wait to show you guys what is next. Thanks for following along ! Comment below with what you think I should do next.
